CORONA – A Silver LiningCorona has proved that everything around us is so temporary. Things our life revolve around such as work, gyms, malls, movies, society are all closed for some time and we are learning to live without them. It has taught us that it’s our own home and family that keeps us safe. Being at home makes us feel safe but may be stressful too at times. We know closed schools are causing a big inconvenience as it disturbs your kids and their routine too. Here are the ways which can provide the best learning experience to your child being at home.

Engage your child in such activities that they learn to –

 make/attend a phone call

 take /leave a message

 write e-mails

 sew on a button

 write a thank you note

 plan a healthy meal

 make a budget

 wait and save for something

 care for a pet

 admit mistakes

 iron a shirt/clothes

 set the table

 make a genuine apology

 take notice of needs around them

 do laundry

 wash dishes

 make a dough and roll a chapatti

 fix something instead of replacing

 check tyre pressure /change the tyre

 do something well even if no one is watching

 Make your children pray every day for the warriors who are fighting for us.

Learn with fun

Following ways can help your child to spend quality time with you as well as learn while they play.

 Play board games like carom, ludo, snakes and ladder, chess, word chain. These games teach us social skills such as sharing, patience, taking turn and enjoying conversation with each other. They increase ability to focus and lengthen your child’s attention span.

 Play calculation games including simple addition, subtraction, multiplication & division.

 Play word games to enhance their vocabulary.

 Narrate stories and discuss the moral values or ask for the different end to the stories, this will develop their critical thinking.

 Practice yoga and meditation.

 Read Newspaper/magazine with your child. Choose few words used in daily conversation and ask her/him to frame a different sentences.

 Involve your child in growing vegetables/seeds of daily utility. You can start by growing coriander in the pot and let your child come up with better ideas.

Learn from the current situation-

 Involve the kids in productive use of technology. The current situation will lead the children to realize the importance of technology. They need to be encouraged to make best use of it for learning at home.

 Let the child learn to use available things wisely as time demands the same.

 Ask your child to suggest optimum use of money considering the present challenges. This will help them to learn the value of money.

 Tell them the practical effect of Covid-19 economically, geographically, socially, emotionally. These can be individually as well as globally analyzed.

 At the same time maintaining diaries and writing routines is a classic way to inculcate the idea of self worth and helps kids to clarify their thoughts and feelings.

Most importantly let us inculcate self discipline in the children. Make your child understand that fighting and protecting the country by staying at the borders is not the only way to serve the nation but following protocol, taking care and helping our country men can also prove our patriotism.

Dear Parents and Students,

As we all know that the school had to be started from 16 of March 2020, which didn’t happen due to COVID -19 outbreak. I thank all the parents for the cooperation extended from their end to keep the teachers and students connected with each other to do some fruitful work. I appreciate the students for being with us and extending their helping hands.

I have been told by some anxious parents that there are many families taking this as a vacation. May I please remind you that the entire world is dealing with the grim situation of being in the grip of a pandemic!

Situation being grave, I request you all to abstain from visits, close contacts, outdoor activities etc. As per reports Children below 10 yr and elderly above 65 are most vulnerable and can be incipient carriers of the disease and can pass it on to others. Social distancing is the order of the day and must be followed responsibly if we are to come through without fatalities.

Let’s take this as an opportunity to spend quality time with each other. Many of our parents are excellent at dance, music, cooking, baking, interior decoration etc.definitely your children can learn from you. To keep the children away from boredom make them learn to arrange their cupboards, keep their belongings at place, help parents at home, and take care of their grandparents.

At a time when the entire world has reached at worrying levels, China first and foremost, and many countries afterwards. A virus does not discriminate with borders, boundaries, class, colour, caste, creed, gender etc. so needs to maintain a proper distance with everyone.

Let’s help our doctors, government and other authorities involved in curbing this menace called CORONA.
Please restrict your movement outdoors unless absolutely necessary.

Stay home stay safe & believe in the power of prayer.
