FAQ – Hygiene at School

  1. How does the school promote personal hygiene among students?
We regularly educate students on the importance of hygiene through health talks, classroom discussions, posters, and activities. Teachers and staff reinforce good habits like handwashing, cleanliness, and proper grooming.
  2. Are students taught about handwashing and hygiene routines?
Yes. Handwashing before meals and after using the toilet is emphasized. Students are guided on correct techniques and reminders are posted in washrooms and classrooms.
  3. How often are school restrooms cleaned?
Restrooms are cleaned multiple times a day by trained housekeeping staff to maintain hygiene and prevent the spread of germs.
  4. What should my child bring to maintain personal hygiene at school?
We recommend sending your child with a handkerchief, a table napkin and a water bottle.
  5. Does the school conduct health or hygiene checks?
Yes. Teachers and the school nurse observe students for signs of poor hygiene, such as unclean uniforms or untreated wounds, and gently guide them or inform parents if needed.
  6. What if a child comes to school with lice or other contagious conditions?
In such cases, we inform the parents discreetly and request temporary absence until treatment is completed. This is to prevent spread and maintain overall health standards.
  7. Are there any hygiene guidelines for uniforms and appearance?
Yes. Students are expected to come in clean, well-ironed uniforms, with trimmed nails and tidy hair. These guidelines help instil self-discipline and respect for self and others.
  8. How are menstrual hygiene and puberty education handled?
For older students, we conduct age-appropriate health education sessions on puberty, menstrual hygiene, and body care. Female students are also guided on how to manage their hygiene during periods.
  9. What role do parents play in supporting personal hygiene habits?
Parents play a key role by reinforcing hygiene habits at home—like regular bathing, nail trimming, and clean clothing. We encourage families to check school bags regularly for hygiene supplies.

10. Who can students approach at school if they have a hygiene-related concern?
Students can speak to their class teacher, school nurse, or counsellor for any personal hygiene concerns. Our staff is trained to handle such matters sensitively and respectfully.
