Nothing succeeds like Success, DPS was the first School which had ambitions to become a brand. It also started at a time where no one had any idea that schools can also become brands, rest is history and it is where it is today.
In today’s day and age where Franchisee essentially means same Experience and Same Decor and Same Process and same everything in food / automobiles / Clothing etc, DPS has none of it. Each and every DPS (run by society or otherwise has almost different way of functioning). If one has to look at other brands like Mt Litera, Vibgyor, Billabing etc, they will have 80% similarity in the books they use, uniforms they have, teachers training module —– Standardised delivery, but same can’t be said for DPS in India.
But DPS today is known across India and abroad and a rich heritage is attributed to it, looking at the success lot of other schools calling themselves DPS sprung up across the country in the past 30-40 years or so. Here is a post detailing about them,
The Delhi Public School – (The Real one)
Delhi Public School started way back in 1940’s has slowly grown on to become the biggest known brand in India. This is the List of Schools currently under the DPS Society. Located at The Delhi Public School Society, F-Block, East of Kailash, New Delhi 110065, India. DPS is run by a group of very learned group of people.

To take a DPS franchise, there is no space dedicated over the web detailing out the procedure. One has to approach the society itself and then present their case post which one might get the permission to start a DPS. In a lot of cases the middle man or political clout is required to reach the right people.

DPS Trust
Delhi Public School Trust based in Rohini (Delhi) was formed in 2003; it started offering franchises to open schools under the brand name of DPS. A lot of schools like DPS Samablpur, DPS Rewa, DPS Angul etc was started by Trust. Though today there is not a single website stating the list of all the schools run by DPS trust.
The Delhi High Court in 2008 blocked it from using the DPS name and logo. However, the trust didn’t stop, and by 2012, it was still running 27 schools across the India, under the name Delhi Public School. Thus in September, 2012, Justice Kailash Gambhir warned it of contempt of court if the trust did not stop. In his December 2012, judgment, Justice HR Malhotra observed that “despite being registered in 2003, the Trust claims its foundation for 54 years and had been fraudulently using the logo which is ‘exactly similar’ to DPS Society.”
In its subsequent judgment, Justice V K Jain of Delhi high court on 16 December 2012 barred the ‘DPS Trust’ from using the name ‘DPS’ or its registered logo as well as the name Delhi Public School for running a school or education-related services. He also has asked the Trust to pay Rs 10 lakh as damages.

DPSG – Delhi Public School Ghaziabad
Founded in 1980, The Delhi Public School Ghaziabad Society now has 15 schools and more than 13,000 students under its belt. Delhi Public School Ghaziabad (DPSG) used to be a part of DPS Society but a fallout happened at it became a society DPSG on its own. Their office is at 315/274, Westend Marg, M.B. Road, Saidulajab, Near ITDC Delhi Haat, New Delhi – 110030. The society is chaired by Mr Om Pathak. Mr Pathak has also started Selaqui International School in Deharadoon. his son Mr Anshul Pathak is also at the helm of affairs at DPSG

DPS Educational Sansthan
The name they use is DPS Educational Sansthan and they have booked a domain www.dpseducationalsociety.org and are currently operating out of WZ-107, IIIrd Floor, Sant Garh, Gali No-21, Outer Ring Road, New Delhi-110018. They are currently (Dec 2017) operating 13 schools all in Bihar in places like Forbesganj, Giridih, Purnea, Supaul, Hazaribagh, Barh, Jamui etc. As per their website they have following people on their board

Now if one has to do name search on the Societies registered in Delhi a DPS Educational Society is registered in 2009, though they are using DPS Educational Sansthan. The people on the board are themselves promoters in some of the schools which they have started. They are still under the radar at this moment of time and in my humble opinion they are also liable for action which the DPS Society will take on them since they are using the name and the motif.

DPWS
Louise Khurshid, wife of Salman Khurshid and Rajiv Soni, president of DPS Alumni Association have teamed up to launch DPS World Foundation whose charter among other things includes admitting affiliate school members under a refined brand of DPS World.

दिल्ली पब्लिक स्कूल के पूर्व छात्रों द्वारा गठित डीपीएस वर्ल्ड फाउंडेशन को हाईकोर्ट से करारा झटका लगा है। हाईकोर्ट ने साफ कहा है कि वर्ल्ड फाउंडेशन पंजीकृत ट्रेडमार्क डीपीएस का इस्तेमाल नहीं कर सकता। हालांकि हाईकोर्ट ने कहा है कि पूर्व छात्रों द्वारा संचालित वर्ल्ड फाउंडेशन दिल्ली-पब्लिक-स्कूल का इस्तेमाल कर सकते हैं।
चीफ जस्टिस जी.रोहिणी और जस्टिस एस.डी. सहगल की पीठ ने दिल्ली पब्लिक स्कूल के पूर्व छात्रों द्वारा संचालित डीपीएस वर्ल्ड फाउंडेशन की अपील का निपटारा करते हुए दिया है। हाईकोर्ट ने एकल पीठ के उस फैसले में हस्तक्षेप से इंकार कर दिया जिसमें उसे अपने कामकाज में डीपीएस का इस्तेमाल करने पर रोक लगा दी थी। एकल पीठ ने कहा कि डीपीएस शब्द दिल्ली पब्लिक स्कूल सोसायटी के नाम पर पंजीकृत ट्रेड मार्क है। डीपीएस वर्ल्ड फाउंडेशन की अध्यक्ष पूर्व विदेश मंत्री एवं डीपीएस सोसायटी के पूर्व अध्यक्ष सलमान खुर्शीद की पत्नी लुईस खुर्शीद हैं। हाईकोर्ट ने कहा है कि दिल्ली पब्लिक स्कूल शब्द आज तक डीपीएस सोसाइटी के नाम पर पंजीकृत नहीं है। हाईकोर्ट ने कहा है कि ऐसे में याचिकाकर्ता फाउंडेशन अलग शब्द दिल्ली-पब्लिक-स्कूल के नाम का इस्तेमाल करने के लिए स्वतंत्र है और इस पर डीपीएस सोसायटी का अधिकार नहीं है। डीपीएस सोसायटी का 1948-49 में पंजीकरण हुआ था और इसके 11 अपने स्कूल व देशभर में 170 से अधिक फ्रेंचाइजी स्कूल हैं। डीपीएस सोसायटी का देश के बाहर भी 15 स्कूल है। सोसायटी ने वर्ष 2015 में वर्ल्ड फाउंडेशन के खिलाफ डीपीएस शब्द का प्रयोग करने का आरोप लगाते हुए ट्रेडमार्क उल्लंघन का मुकदमा दाखिल किया था। सोसायटी ने कहा था कि वर्ल्ड फाउंडेशन द्वारा अपने स्कूलो में डीपीएस का प्रयोग करने से आम लोगों में भ्रम पैदा होता है। सोसायटी ने यह भी कहा था कि जनता को गुमराह किया जा रहा है कि डीपीएस वर्ल्ड फाउंडेशन भी डीपीएस से संबंध है।
